Stichting Galliformes is a Dutch non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of threatened galliform bird species worldwide, including pheasants, partridges, quails, francolins, guans and guineafowl.
While these species form only a small part of global biodiversity, they play a vital role as indicators of ecosystem health and support essential natural processes such as seed dispersal, insect regulation and food chains.
“Protecting galliform species means protecting the ecosystems they reflect, support and sustain.”
Through a combined approach of applied research, professional breeding programmes and international cooperation, the foundation supports both in-situ conservation and targeted reintroduction projects. Operating from its breeding and knowledge centre in Arnhem, Stichting Galliformes works with universities, zoological institutions and conservation organisations across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. By generating and sharing specialist knowledge, the foundation contributes to resilient ecosystems that benefit both nature and the communities that depend on them.
